Get the keymap working on VIA

Since the VIA code for the K2 Pro is still awaiting approval from Github, it is not yet automatically recognized, so you will need to manually download and import the K2 Pro keymap.

Please download the keymap JSON file below. Connect your keyboard and device with the provided cable, and toggle the switch to cable mode. Open VIA, click on the “Show Design tab” on the “Settings” tab, enable “Use V2 definitions (deprecated)” on the “Design” tab, and drag the JSON file into the “Design” tab on VIA to get the K2 Pro keymap working on VIA.

Suitable For All Devices

Offers a Mac layout while still being compatible with Windows, the K2 Pro is one of the few on the market that has the same multimedia and function key functions as Apple keyboards for Mac users, but with more tactile feedback.

You can even configure different keymaps for both Mac and Windows devices. While VIA software is compatible with macOS, Windows, and Linux. Includes keycaps for both macOS and Windows (3 keycaps for each) to allow you to switch between operating systems with ease.

Hot-swappable

Every detail matters, so we make the K2 Pro hot-swappable for your personalized typing experience. The hot-swappable sockets are mounted on the PCB, so you can hot-swap every switch on the K2 Pro with almost all of the 3pin and 5pin MX style mechanical switches on the market (including Cherry, Gateron, Kailh, Panda, etc.) without soldering. You can customize your own typing experience in seconds.

Screw-In PCB Stabilizers

Even small part matters for your fingertip feel. We’ve integrated the PCB-mounted screw-in stabilizers for a smoother typing experience with less wobbliness on the big keys such as space bar, shift, enter, and backspace. The Keychron K2 Pro also supports third-party screw-in PCB stabilizers.

Pre-lubed Keychron K Pro Switch

By optimizing the switch mold, the K Pro switch wobbles less than a standard mechanical switch and feels smoother on each hit. Plus, the factory pre-lubed process on all the K Pro switches (exclude the clicky ones), no doubt this will ensure the best smoothness at your fingertips when typing.

OSA Profile Double-shot PBT Keycaps

To further fine-tune your typing experience, the K2 Pro comes with our unique OSA profile (OEM profile with spherical-angle) and double-shot PBT keycaps that aim to provide a more comfortable fingertip feel with excellent oil resistance for long-term use on the timeless tenkeyless layout.

South-facing RGB Lights

The south-facing RGB is designed to better illuminate the keyboard backlight from the typist’s angle. The south-facing RGB is also free from interference when the user installs Cherry-profile alternative keycaps on their keyboard.

Comes with more than 22 types of RGB backlight settings (as well as a static white backlight option), and 14 types of backlight settings on the White Backlight version. You can further fine-tune the RGB hue, saturation, brightness, effect speed with ease.

I have been using the keyboard for about 2 weeks now. I bought the white backlight version with the Keychron Banana switches and I love the keyboard. The banana switches are extremely well suited for typing. The keyboard feels solid and the keycaps are of good quality. Overall the keyboard is very good. However there are some issues that are not welcome considering the high price of the keyboard. First, the switches are a little scratchy, although only noticable if you pay attention. Considering the price of the keyboard, this should not happen. Secondly, the stabilizers are a bit inconsistent. On my keyboard the backspace key stabilizers make a clicking sound even when the key is lightly tapped. Other than these, the keyboard is extremely good. No connectivity issues either and the customizability using the via software is excellent.

    1. I gave order on Saturday night and the product got shipped on Monday, Sunday is off for them. And in pune it got delivered on Tuesday.
    2. Unfortunately while delivering product Bluedart did not send me any pin for delivering the product. They just handover it to me and delivery person was also impression why no pin is require when product is of 10k cost.
    3. Coming to product, I would like to tell why I chose this one, I wanted compact TKL keyboard, 75% is perfect choice for it. In India very few companies offer 75% keyboard, and among them non is offering dedicated ins key, there is much importance to dedicated RGB toggle key than dedicated “ins” key. Insert key is very functional in linux programming and to linux users. Keychron could have given keycaps for those missing keys if user map those can be swapped. But this keyboard is has missing insert key. Even it was not mapped with fn key. I finally mapped ins key to RGB toggle key and that was super easy using via software.
    4. One thing is on website there is no video of white keyboard they should upload white keyboard videos, along with RGB lights.
    5. They provided, 2 red key caps for escape and enter, I did not expected this, and there are no photo on website with red keycaps installed.
    6. I personally liked layout of Nuphy halo75 (https://nuphy.com/products/halo75), so thoughtful, we don’t use right control lot and by removing this they provided bigger fn key and spacing between fn and arrow keys, and dedicated ins key!, makes it perfect.
    7. Basically, the aluminium frame model is just 4 aluminium plates screwed around plastic model.
    8. The banana switches are tactile, K2 Pro web page should have tech specification for it, you can find those on some other model’s page.
    9. RGB does not shine through keycaps, I don’t understand why RGB lights are given at first place such keycaps, in night we cannot read legends on keycap even if RGB is on.
    10. The south facing led light position is odd, in market you cannot easily find such keycaps which having legends at bottom position.
    11. Banana switches having good tactile feedback, and overall keyboard is not loud, can be used in office without annoying others.
    12. I used in past cosmibyte and zebronic keyboard, compared to those, this one is quite and feels premium.
    13. Bluetooth connectivity is good, within a sec it gets connected to my laptop and I am using 3 devices on Bluetooth, no interference and disconnection, this review is based on one day use.
    15. The second row keycaps are bit more in height compared to first row keycaps, I tried to fix delete key in position of page down and up, but this starts looking asymmetric in height.
    16. Notice, the right alt, fn and right ctrl keys are shrink to respective let ones.
    17. Up arrow key is having mark similar to J and F for helping to recognise by fingers.
    18. In idle case, pro model has some extra features compared to its descendant, but this one is missing features from K2 (i.e having RGB shine though keycaps).
    19. Keyboard elevation is good, I like raise, using second level.
    20. Keyboard is recognizable in VIA software no need to import json files, those steps for importing json can be removed from website to avoid confusion.
    21. Overall, I would like to recommend this keyboard with know cons, one can spend more on accessories and get missing things.
